Hello!

I’m Kelly Lima, Founder of Studio Lima.

My passion for interiors started when I was a little girl, wanting desperately to have my own room and to decorate it as I wanted. Moving furniture around and hunting for treasures in flea markets and second hand stores was something I grew up doing.

Growing up in both Australia and Portugal, little did I know that I was given a unique opportunity to observe how people make a house a home. Seeing myself as a natural nomad, wandering from place to place, I was always searching for something to ground me, and that place was a home. Working as a nurse in the Middle East allowed me to travel all around the world, soaking up inspiration and observing different cultures and experiencing the hospitality and the simple act of living. It refined my eye to see the beauty in not only grand monuments and buildings, but the feeling of coziness and hospitality when in your home.

I came to understand that all people crave a place to call home.

No matter where I went, I would always make the place I was staying a home by surrounding myself with beautiful things that I collected and inviting other people to enjoy the home by hosting lunches and dinners.

One of my most cherished memories is when I was in Morocco. I was welcomed into a friends family home where we dined on a rooftop, sitting on a bedouin rug, eating chicken tagine from a terracota pot with our hands while surrounded by the majestic snow capped Atlas Mountains. Strangers turned into family over a shared meal. Even though they didn’t have much, they made me feel at home.

This feeling of home, coziness, or hygge (as the swedish call it), is what I would like everyone to feel when they arrive at home.

My passion for interiors exponentially grew while having completed various renovation projects and building my own house from the ground up, creating it into a home that my family and I now enjoy everyday.

My ability to visualise and create beautiful spaces is a skill honed from experience and a gift I would like to share with others, so I decided to pivot into a career that I love by completing a Certification from the Interior Design Institute.

My spaces are infused with simplicity, comfort and small luxuries that add a casual elegance and a lived in feel. I love to blend materiality, textures and art, bringing personality and joy into spaces.

I now live in Alice Springs (Mparntwe) in the Northern Territory with my husband and two children. Most weekends you will often find us entertaining on our deck overlooking the East McDonnell Ranges and swimming in the pool.
